Your infusion will take place in a private room. You will be given a blanket, eye mask, and headphones to enhance your relaxation and comfort. Ketamine in administered intravenously over 40 minutes. You will be monitored during this time and will remain for 30-
60 minutes after the infusion.
While most people will notice a significant improvement after the first treatment, lasting efficacy is achieved starting with 6 infusions over 2-3 weeks with additional booster treatments every 2 to 12 weeks to maintain this improved level of function.
Ketamine is a medication with a long history of safe and effective use as a sedative and adjunct to general anesthesia. More recently it has been found to be effective for the treatment of depression and other conditions when given in low doses.
While generally well tolerated, the most common side effects include sedation, nausea, dizziness, hallucinations, anxiety, and headaches. These usually resolve shortly after the infusion is completed.
